Clive Desmond Smith, or as he was known in his younger days….. mad DES….

Loving husband to Ursula, Father of 7 children, grandfather of 13 grandkids, and companion to several erratic dogs.

Clive was a stubborn adventurer, who sailed the seven seas, in his younger years. After leaving the sea, his life was filled with mini adventures daily, with his family around the wirral hills, and coastline. Walking hand in hand with Ursula, he was known and loved by many.

Well, Clive always said he would never go into a care home, if he grew to be incapable of looking after himself. His legs were refusing to work anymore, and he knew it was time to face the final curtain, as he said to me, about a month ago………. He wasn’t scared, and he was ready……..So to dad I say, well done….. you won at life, and you beat death, and your legacy and love shines on in all our hearts….

Is that your da

Err yes it is
It’s Mally’s da
You’re mallys da
Why’s he hobbling
He broke his toe
Has he been to the hospital
No he won’t go
Stubbornly he stumbles
On through the land
To be born once more
In every moment
Within reach of hand
Bloody well walking
Never to grumble
On he must go
Out he must go
With his open heart
Each day to complete
Good cheer to impart
With the Folks he would meet
An adventurer from the start
Sailing off to far away lands
But from the seas he would part
To build a family life
With rough worn hands
With bear hugs formidable
A grin across his face
Yorkshire puddings incredible
As we sat down in our place
Round the table of plenty
Full bellies stuffed our face
Out we go to walk it off
Come rain or hail or bloody snow
Out we would go to face the world
DAD with broken ankle, or broken toe
How did he do it
We do nothing but moan
Ooh me belly hurts
I don’t think I’ll go
They don’t make dads like this anymore
He is one in a million
The strength of King Kong
But all things must pass
Of steam he’d run out
His legs could not carry
So of the door he ducked on out
